2025 ANNUAL Report

Julia’s Center is a non-profit clinic dedicated to delivering vital healthcare services, including diabetes care, women’s health, and basic medical care. The center’s all-volunteer team of medical professionals works to empower patients through education and support. By focusing on accessibility and affordability, Julia’s Center aims to improve health outcomes for the uninsured and low-income residents of Collin County.

Happy New Year! Looking back, 2025 was an unusually eventful year. A few highlights are as follows:

130 dedicated volunteers

8,073 volunteer hours

3 MDs and 1 NP joined our team for our increased demand for services.

We were approved for the sixth consecutive year for our Gold Seal from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC).

Our goal continues to be to expand our services, and we continue to take a holistic approach to their medical care.

In July, thanks to a grant from the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, we began a 6 month pilot study in the form of a Diabetic Support Group. The criteria for entering the group was an A1C of 9 or above. The meetings

were held 2 Wednesdays per month , and patients received CGMs (continuous glucose monitors), a healthy low carb, high protein meal, fresh produce, and intense education. Education from specialists delivered information essential to managing the care of their Diabetes:

Diabetic Education

Nutrition

Foot Care

Mental Health

Cardiology,

Nephrology

Neurology

Ophthalmology,

Dental care

Each patient, except one who declined, received a CGM and

instructions on its use to help improve their blood sugar management. The results were tracked, and they were very impressive. The current group graduated January 21st, 2026, with an average A1C improvement of 25%, and a new group will begin in February 2026, and continue with the same agenda.

We continued our partnership with West Coast University by hosting PA students who completed 2 capstone projects: one for diabetes and another for hypertension. We will continue the partnership in 2026.

Thank you for all you’ve done and will do in the future for the clinic and our patients. Looking forward, please note that we aren’t done yet. It’s a new year and a new day.

We have a new board, a new President, a new strategic plan, and big hopes for the future, so stay tuned. We still need your

continued financial support, prayer, and volunteer service commitment.

Sincerely,

Jim Fini

ABOUT US

Julia’s Center is a product of inspiration and dedication of Julia Grenier who gave the better part of her life to serve her neighbors in Collin County. Julia’s Center for Healthcare was created to honor Julia, and to continue the work that she started. PATIENT STORY: Nelson had been struggling to control his diabetes for a very long time. He first came to Julia’s after an ER visit for a wound to his right foot, and at that time his vision was so poor that he was unable to drive. He presented with a blood sugar of 413 and a hemoglobin A1C greater than 14% which indicated that his Diabetes was completely out of control. He was seen and treated for his immediate needs, and then he was scheduled to see the Endocrinologist, the Ophthalmologist, and then entered into the Diabetic Support group. The criteria for entering the group is an A1C of 9% or above. His wife drove him to the classes, and she attended the sessions with him to learn how to help manage his condition. After completing 6 months of intensive diabetic education and training, Nelson’s A1C was reduced by 40.7%. His overall health and attitude also improved, and his vision improved as well, enabling him to drive unassisted. He was extremely grateful for the support, and he has agreed to become a mentor for fellow patients in the next diabetic support group.
