Our History
In Collin County, in 1999, there was no County hospital, and an estimated 79,000 residents were without health insurance. In early 2000 Julia Grenier, Collin County’s first public health nurse founded CCAC (Collin County Adult Clinic), a faith based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization to serve this medically indigent population. Patients who were able, made a donation of $5-$10 which helped to offset some of the costs of running the clinic, but it was primarily funded by local churches, grants and private citizens. Julia retired in 2008 due to health issues, and in 2012 CCAC’s board voted to become a FQHC look-alike to obtain federal funding and it was no longer a charitable clinic. In 2016, Julia’s Center was founded in Julia’s honor, and organized by a remnant of the volunteers who were displaced when CCAC became federally subsidized. Julia’s Center is once again a 501(c)(3) faith-based organization staffed with non-paid medical providers and volunteers who provide free healthcare to the uninsured residents of Collin County. Today, in Collin County, there is still no tax supported hospital, and the number of residents who are uninsured has grown to over 150,000. This number is increasing daily due to the increasing cost of living, job and incomes losses. Julia’s Center is one of 7 charitable clinics in Collin County attempting to manage this issue.

Julia's Center Values
Our Namesake

Julia’s Center for Healthcare is sad to announce the passing of our founder, Julia Grenier. This amazing beautiful soul joined the angles early on the morning of May 23, 2019. She left her mark on the world by helping others and being a wonderful mother, a grandmother and great grandmother.
An accomplished woman during her life, she was a graduate of TCU receiving a BS in nursing. In addition to raising a family and working in home health care, she was a volunteer for 35 years with the American Red Cross. Julia also started the Caritas outreach program at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and worked with the charitable organization Plano Santas. She was the founder and Executive Director for the first free clinic in Collin County. The clinic operates under the name Julia’s Center led by those who previously worked with her. Mentor and servant of many, she was twice named Plano’s Volunteer of the Year.
From her granddaughter Christina’s post of May 23rd:
“This amazing and beautiful soul joined the angels this early morning!! She left her mark on the world by helping others and being a wonderful momma to 3 beautiful strong women, a grandmother to myself and Brandon, my cousin, and a great grandmother to my two boys! she was a nurse for so many years and then opened a clinic for the less fortunate that is still open today!! She has the biggest heart and though she has left us on earth we know she is now watching us all now from Heaven!!! Jesus gained another angel! We love you grandmere and you will be missed!”
